Dubrovnik location’s

It can be found in the south of Dalmatia with a good transportation network. Dubrovnik is the county seat of county Neretva, it is also called the pearl of the Adriatic Sea. The sea coast and the land of Herzegovina are bordered by the peaks of the mountain chain of the Dinaric Alps. Many islands are located in front of the sea coast section of the county, e.g. Korcula, Lastovo, and Mljet. The city itself is at a wonderful spot. The island Lokrum is in front of it, while the Mediterranean Sea opens through the Strait of Otranto to the southeast. To the northwest along the coast, there are many islands, which are easy to reach by sailing boats.
Dubrovnik is one of the most popular cities in Croatia. It is located at the southernmost edge of Croatia and it is also referred to as one of the country’s most beautiful cities. Its old town is part of the world heritage, the palace is one of the world’s most beautiful and largest Roman buildings that has survived history. Do you wish to lie in the sun on stunning beaches and explore many islands? Your best destination is Dubrovnik! Can you rent a yacht in Dubrovnik- do I need a license? The requirements.

Small boats (under a certain horsepower or length), electric boats, crewed yacht charters, gulet charters may not require a license. Larger boats or those with more powerful engines need a skipper’s license. Before you confirm your sailing trip to Trogir, please send us a copy and we will check it for you. You need to have the original copies on board, so don’t forget to take them.
To sail from Trogir, one of the following qualifications is necessary: ICC (International Certificate of Competence), Int. IPC (International Proficiency Certificate, USA), NauticEd SLC (International Sailing License and Credentials), RYA Day Skipper Course, valid Navigational and VHF licenses. Alternatively: ICC (International Certificate of Competence), Int. IPC (International Proficiency Certificate, USA), NauticEd SLC (International Sailing License and Credentials, Int.) OR: [UK] RYA Day Skipper Shorebased Certificate or higher, [USA] Sailing ‘Basic Keelboat’ or higher, [DE] ‘Sportbootführerschein See’ or higher, [FR] le Permis Plaisance Additionally, the following documents are necessary: Valid travel documents: USA citizens: EU regulations mandate USA passport holders to have at least three months of validity beyond the planned departure date from Croatia., European Union (EU) citizens: No visa required. Canadian citizens: No visa is required for stays up to 90 days.

Boat hire Dubrovnik – the main ports

ACI Marina Dubrovnik

This well-equipped marina is 6 km from the old town of Dubrovnik. As you would expect, it is open all year round. It possesses 425 berths in the water and 140 on the land. The berths can accept a maximum of 60 m long yacht.

Port of Dubrovnik

This port is located North-West 3 km from the old town of Dubrovnik near Gruz. There are restaurants, cafés, gift shops, exchange offices and banks nearby. You can even rent a car here. Furthermore, there are no restrictions on the size and length of yachts. The maximum depth of diving is 11 m. The water depth for anchoring is 42 m.

Lopud

Mostly local yachts stay in the port of Lopud. The water depth is 1.5-5 m. There are just a few temporary berths for shorter stays with a depth of 6.5 m. The huge traffic of yachts and ferries triggers strong seawater movements so check the tightness of your anchor. Moreover, it is important to keep a distance from the pier by casting an anchor.

Koločep

Koločep ferry port lies 8 km from Dubrovnik. You can drop your anchor here. The water depth is 2-7 m. The water’s bottom is sandy and full of seaweed.

ACI Marina Slano

In 2014 a marina for 200 sailboats was built to improve sailing in the region. Since it‘s the southmost county of Dalmatia, it’s an optimal choice to rent a boat or yacht. From Slano all of South Dalmatia is approachable. If you wish for more, you should head to the Peljesac Peninsula, which is the largest peninsula in Dalmatia, and the second-largest one in Croatia after the Istrian Peninsula. Marina Cavtat

The port of Cavtat can be found in the western part of the old city, east of the Sustjepan peninsula. It can accommodate boats as long as 60 metres. Sobra (Mljet)

Sobra is the main ferry port where yachts can anchor at the V-shaped pier. The depth of the water is 4-5 metres. They offer fuel, and if you get hungry, you can go to Konoba Lanterna nearby. The only inconvenience you might have is the northeastern and southern winds in the wide bay.

Polače (Mljet)

Port of Polače can be found on the North-West part of the island of Mljet. The island lies near Dubrovnik, Korčula Island, and the Pelješac peninsula divided by the Mljet canal. Polače lies in the territory of the Mljet National Park; it is, actually, an entrance of the park. You can find here a travel agency, food stores and a lot of diners. For getting ashore go to the North-West part of the bay. The water depth for berths is 3-4 m. Although the Roman castle ruins it is only 2-3 m.

Žuljana (Pelješac peninsula)

The pier is mostly occupied by local yachts. The permanent berths are between the pier and the beach. The depth of the water is 1-3.9 m. Watch out for strong summer winds.

Marina Orebić (Pelješac peninsula)

The harbour on the southern side of the Pelješac peninsula can accommodate 220 yachts, up to 12 metres in length. The depth is 2 metres. Marina Lovište (Pelješac peninsula)

Lovište is located in a beautiful bay at the northwestern end of the Pelješac Peninsula. Its harbour offers 20 berths for yachts up to 20 metres long. Marina Lumbarda (Korčula)

The harbour is located in Lumbarda Bay, in a wonderful natural environment. It accommodates 115 yachts, up to 25-30 metres in length. The depth is 8 metres. Marina Vela Luka (Korčula)

Beaches of Dubrovnik

Buza:

Buza is located to the southwest of the old town under the castle wall. The beach is rocky and has small pebbles at some points. It is very popular for bathing during the day and it has a real Mediterranean lounge atmosphere at night.

Banje:

Banje is a picturesque beach, where most of the beach photos of Dubrovnik are made. The beach has small pebbles everywhere. It offers very many water sports attractions and you can get very far from jetskiing on beach. Copacabana:

The main sights in Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik Summer Festival:

This festival has taken place each year in July and August since 1950. Visitors are entertained by theatre, folklore, and dance performances, as well as ballet shows, operas, and concerts. This is Croatia’s most popular summer festival.

City wall:

Europe’s most massive and fullest city wall, which was erected between the 8th and 16th centuries. The wall is 1, 940 meters long, 6 meters wide and at some points 25 meters high. Have a walk and enjoy your view!

Chairlift:

The chairlift was established in 1969, but it was destroyed in the war. After its reconstruction, it was opened to visitors in 2010. Enjoy the fantastic view from the chairlift, because you can see as far as70 km from above. The upper station has an altitude of 405 meters and the journey length is 778 meters.

Stradun/Placa:
